Event Introduction.

Shelsley Walsh Speed Hill Climb in Worcestershire. Shelsley Walsh is the oldest motor sport venue in continuous use in the world. First used in 1905, it is older than Indianapolis, Le Mans or Monza. Brooklands has been and gone, but Shelsley Walsh is still here.

Wyre Forest Cycle Racing Club and Worcester St John’s Cycling Club have teamed up with the Midland Automobile Club to promote this inaugural event, which is an annual feature of the UK cycling calendar.

The 12ft wide (3.66m) wide smooth tarmac surface of the hill climb course runs for 1000 yards (914 metres) gaining an elevation of 328 feet (100 metres). This gives an average gradient of 1:9 (11%) with a maximum gradient of 1:6 (17%).

The event will be run under Cycling Time Trial regulations with separate event categories for men and women, as well as prizes for other classifications. The event can be entered from here, which links to the Cycling Time Trial event entry system.

Spectators are very welcome, the Strastone Cafe will be open all day at the base of the hill for hot food and drinks. For the riders, the Shelsley Walsh covered pit area will be available for preparation and warm up. The hill climb course will be open for practice before the main competition begins.

Further details of the event schedule and timing will be posted on this website as soon as they are finalised.

The Shelsley Walsh Motor Sport Venue is a private facility, there is no access for cycling at any other time of the year.
